The Little Engine that Couldn't

The United States is a nation in contraction. "Think small" should be the motto of Christie and so many others like him. He is small minded and without vision. The world he would create is one that does not diminish our debt but does diminish our value. Here is a man who is gutting our state's educational system and is now taking away our opportunity to grow our rail system to meet 21st century demands, and literally to propel us forward.

We seem very likely to be handing more significant control of our future to leaders like Christie in the coming weeks. If that is what happens, then we as a country will face a future not as a big, powerful locomotive but as the little engine that couldn't.

THIS IS LIKE GETTING TICKETS TO A BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN CONCERT AND THEN TURNING BACK FROM THE ARENA WHEN YOU FIND OUT THAT PARKING COSTS TWENTY DOLLARS.

SHORTSIGHTED DOES NOT FULLY DESCRIBE THE EFFECT OF THIS POOR DECISION.

IT IS ALSO A CAPITULATION TO THE IDEA THAT WE IN AMERICA CAN NO LONGER DO WHAT WE'VE DONE SO WELL--FORGE AHEAD DESPITE RISK AND ADVERSITY.

MAYBE CHRISTIE SHOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT. THEN, PERHAPS, HE WILL REFUSE TO START WARS THAT WE DON'T PAY FOR.

Infrastructure pays dividends now, with jobs, and in the future for many generations that follow. Ted

It has the feel of giving up. There is no hint in any of Christie's actions of a belief that there can be good government. This is a man with a half-empty, not half full, viewpoint. He governs that way and he has no concept of what it means to lead.
