It is a constant all
out assault on the senses as we see evil, hear evil and listen to it
spoken in every fresh turd laid by this President and his band of not so
merry men.
We are
exhausted from the barrage. This administration need not endorse a
renewed enthusiasm for water boarding for it exerts it's own unique
brand of torture upon this nation with every tweet, every venomous piece
of intended destructive legislation, every suggestion that progress is a
four letter word.
When
we awaken it is with a sense of looming dread that today will be the one
where the break from sanity becomes irreversible, where the sky truly
is falling, where the malevolence is so ingrained that we no longer can
distinguish good from bad, where alternative facts become real.
It
is the moment when our equilibrium fails and we lose the sense of up
and down, of right from wrong, of captor from leader. That one morning
Stockholm syndrome overtakes us and we find truth and the American way
is what Mr. Trump tells us it is.
But
at least for now, more than half a year into the nightmare, we still
retain our capacity to call out the bullshit and keep our resolve.
Cock a doodle don't Mr. President. Just don't go there. It is literally beneath even you.

But, think of the upside. If any of our grandsons ever want to avoid the draft, all they have to do is dress up like a woman and speak in a falsetto voice. No more phony excuses like heel spurs need to be used.
Events of the last few days demonstrate, once again, just how self destructive, mean spirited, shortsighted, vindictive he can be. It cannot last. At this rate he's going to detonate his presidency before the year is out.

Arggghhhh! But great column!
KS
what did you eat before writing this one? The greatest piece!
Superlative, comme d’habitude (as usual). Thank you.
Every day, I wake up thinking of a little relief, only to discover, “it” has doubled down. Oy vey.
