It is the invasion of the body snatchers. It is that insidious group who
speaks always of getting out of the way so that we can govern ourselves
but who wants nothing more than to mandate how we lead our lives. It is
the end of freedom under the rubric of free choice.
It is anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-immigrant. It makes us hide in
shadows, unable to make choices on how to live.
It
speaks in codes, with words that seek to diminish, that harbor hatred
and bigotry. It talks of legitimate rape. It spews venom
against the poor, against those in harm's way. It has lost all
compassion.
It takes away our most basic freedom, the right to vote, using false ghosts as its foil.
It
has taken over the minds and the actions of its leaders, and it is
incapable of logic and debate. It is the invasion of the body snatchers.
It is today's Republican party.

This administration needs to be extolling the virtues of good government. It has not sufficiently done so. I don't know why. By not doing so, it gives credence to the Republican belief that government is bad. If the President loses the election, it will be because of this.
