Waiting for Godot (Politically)

While the lament of Mr. Bryant is commendable, it brings into question the wisdom of his apparent continued attachment to the Republican Party.

I understand that in a theoretical sense it may be the party most aligned with his beliefs. However, in practice it has long since abandoned any recognizable affiliation with sane and defensible policy. Its fiscal theories are a mess, unsupported by economists or events on the ground. As to social matters, it has been a disgrace, devoid of any pretense of reason or caring. It has become an unfettered disaster, without core principles that would make it an attractive option.

The real issue for Mr. Bryant is there is an evident truth which he has never completely grasped; waiting for a satisfactory Republican Party is more futile than waiting for Godot.
